2024- 2025 Scholarship Recipients

Mr. Jacob Bell
Clemson University

Mr. Jacob Bell is currently a Junior in the Clemson University Honors College. Jacob graduated from South Pointe High School in May, 2022. He was an outstanding high school student, selected as 1 of 14 of his school district to enter the South Carolina Governor's School Accelerate program as a sophomore. Jacob also contributes to his community by serving as an FCA volunteer and student ambassador for the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences. The South Carolina Vegetation Management Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce Mr. Jacob Bell as a 2024-2025 SCVMA Scholarship Recipient.

Mr. Wayland Gruber
The Citadel

Mr. Wayland Gruber is currently as freshman at The Citadel. Wayland graduated with honors from Dorchester Academy in May, 2024. During his high school career, he served as Student Body President, Varsity Football Captain, and Vice President of the Class of 2024. Wayland supported several community outreach initiatives including Operation Christmas Child and the St. George Food Pantry. He has worked as an equipment operator for Gruber Wood since 2022. The South Carolina Vegetation Management Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce Mr. Wayland Gruber as a 2024-2025 SCVMA Scholarship Recipient.

A scholarship in the amount of $2,500 is available to a worthy individual majoring in forestry, horticulture, environmental science, or natural resources at an approved university or technical college. This scholarship will be based on scholastic and achievement records. Priority will be given to South Carolina residents. Applications may be submitted by High School Seniors or University or Technical College Students. The $2,500 scholarship will be paid in two equal payments of $1,250 which will be made during the fall and spring semesters. This application must be submitted by May 31, 2025 to the South Carolina Vegetation Management Association, Attn: BILLY NOWLEN, 2533 HARBOR VIEW ROAD, CAMDEN, SC 29020 or emailed to: info@scvma.net.
