2023- 2024 Scholarship Recipients

Ms. Savannah Black
Clemson University Bridge

Ms. Savannah Black is currently a freshman in the Clemson University Bridge program. Savannah graduated from River Bluff High School in May, 2023. She was an outstanding high school athlete, earning the Magnum Volleyball Player of the Big South Tournament. Savannah also contribued to her community by serving as an FCA Volleyball Coach, Well More Senior Center volunteer, West Virginia mission Trip, and the CREW Impact Conference Field Day for Pediatric Cancer. The South Carolina Vegetation Management Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce Ms. Savannah Black as a 2023-2024 SCVMA Scholarship Recipient.

Ms. Raelyn Abernathy
Coastal Carolina University

Ms. Raelyn Abernathy is currently as freshman at Coastal Carolina University. Raelyn graduated from Clover High School in May, 2023. During her high school career, she participated in FCA, FFA, Volleyball, and the Interact club. Raelyn supported several community outreach initiatives including: Adopt-a-Stream, Operation Christmas Child, and leading craft projects for Lake Wylie Assisted Living and Memory Care. She has worked as a wildlife and forestry manager for Cana Plantation since 2019. The South Carolina Vegetation Management Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce Ms. Raelyn Abernathy as a 2023-2024 SCVMA Scholarship Recipient.

A scholarship in the amount of $2,500 is available to a worthy individual majoring in forestry, horticulture, environmental science, or natural resources at an approved university or technical college. This scholarship will be based on scholastic and achievement records. Priority will be given to South Carolina residents. Applications may be submitted by High School Seniors or University or Technical College Students. The $2,500 scholarship will be paid in two equal payments of $1,250 which will be made during the fall and spring semesters. This application must be submitted by May 31, 2024 to the South Carolina Vegetation Management Association, Attn: BILLY NOWLEN, 2533 HARBOR VIEW ROAD, CAMDEN, SC 29020 or emailed to: info@scvma.net.
